Dec. 4th. 2007.

Hi, This is my very first and new blog.
I will write something around me and the ColecoVision.
I live in Europe, Denmark.
It is a small land with around 5 million people, but we are known world wide in many ways.

First i will tell you that, -i got my CBS ColecoVision in spring 1983, it was introduced on the Danish market via CBS Electronics.
A division from CBS (Colombia Broadcasting System).

I gave DDK 2.495,- for it, and Mouse Trap was included. The name of the store was: Salling.
My cousin Brian had an Atari 2600 and one of my freinds had an Philips G 7000. (Magnavox Odyssey).
I played on them, but it was not what i think it should look.
But on Atari was the PacMan the best version i ever have seen on a videogame for home use in that time.
I also known the Intellivision and Tron was a pretty edition.

I saw the ColecoVision by chance, and i most say my love for it was reciprocal.
It was a good looking design and it was lined up with 4 ColecoVisions free to play, -Donkey Kong - Cosmic Avenger - Smurf and Mouse Trap.
I could not believe my own eyes, Donkey Kong in real life and Smurf, it was so real.
Smurfs animation was pretty nice.

I could see on their flyers that was already a lot of games, and the games was licenced games i knowing from all of my many Arcade-places
around in my city: Aalborg.
I was calculating fast, i spend DKK 2,- per game, and i use the money just like that.

A game here in Denmark cost DKK 499,- pretty much for a game in that time.
(A new PS3 game with a lot graphics and 5:1 sound is a same price today).
The IC Rom price in 1980's was a lot expense.

I think 100 freeplays on my own ColecoVision and my game has played itself in again, and the game is my very own.
I purchase my games very fast, and in 1990 has my collection reach to 31 games.

I always have a dream about to make ColecoVision inside in an old Arcade-machine.
In 1985 i build my own Joystick with 2 different buttons, it was around 50 cm long, i do not have a picture, only a drawing.
I used keypad for player two to select skill level.

Some of my games was buying from USA from a place called Video Take Out in North Hollywood.
They warn me to buy these games, because they say the games was in NTSC format.
I ignored that, because i mean to have read in a magazine: Computer+Videogames in 80's that "it doesn't matter".
Where The Video Take Out is placed today do i not know.

Early in 1986 I make this one, a mini Arcadebox.
My Family and friends was wild about my ColecoVision.
My family and friends was almost loyal, and my new box paid me a few bucks.

I make a decision, in 1988 would TeleGames in UK convert my ColecoVision to Scart-connection for pure colors.
I get it back and it never works since.
TeleGames returned a Secam-board, not my original PAL from 1983.

I lost my Dad in January 1991, and in March 1991 do i found my little chick, and we have 2 kids now, one girl and one boy.

In 1999 i spend some money on a used ColecoVision, from a guy there was willing to sell his one.
I stared to order games again and me and my chick played a lot of games.

In 2001 do we split up, and we are not living together.
She have the girl (Camilla), and i have the boy. (Jesper).

I began to buy games again, particular games that has an Arcade background, consequently games converted from an real Arcademachine
to ColecoVision. That was these games i knowing already.
If ColecoVision just had live a little longer, i'm sure there would have been produced a lot more game for that machine.

In 2006 became i an member on a great forum called: AtariAge basicly US and English language.
So i try to refresh my school-english, and there are many words i not can formulate right yet.
But i try, and people are nice, and to my big surprise a member called PingvinBlueJeans send me for free two games, Centipede and Defender.
I will credit for that, but i lost his adress.
There are people from all over the world, and i allready know people "over there".
I also buy another ColecoVision console for experiment Av out.
An PAL CBS ColecoVision are away different from an US NTSC ColecoVision.
But basicly the same machine.
If you have a PAL game, it will play on an NTSC as well and in reverse order.
I trying many ways to convert it myself, but it will not do as what i will have it.
I can buy an converter for Red Green and Blue component in, and Scart or composite out, but such a box are expensive.

I still miss a lot of games, i have them on my wishlist.
There is also games i do not playing so much more.
My Toplist is: Magical Tree - Space Invaders Collection - Donkey Kong - Lady Bug - Roc 'n Rope - Pepper II - Popeye - Centipede - Gyruss
Threshold and of course the two new opcoming games namely: Road Fighter and Pac Man Collection these are for release in 2008 from Opcode Games.

They are great people at Opcode Games, they are professionals and their work is accomplished with assistance from Jess Creations and doc4.
I also take my Hat of for Bryan who make the Megacart possible.

It is hard for me to, not find, but buying used games, because when i look on ebay, on Ships to: US /Canada.
If seller would set his settings to Worldwide and/or Buy it now, i'm sure he would sell his game in a much wider range.

In 2006 i finally get an empty Arcademachine, and it's not finish yet.
I can almost play all my games on it, but not the games for the Steering wheel, the Roller controller and these with overlays.

Yesterday i ordered 2 Champ Joypads and the game Spy Hunter from Atari2600.com and
the Champ Joypads will be mounted on my new Joystick control panel in 2008, and that will included the Roller controller too.

Today the 4th. i ordered Galaxian, cart only.
Hope it will arrive here in Denmark before christmas.

That's all for this time, have a good day !.

Ole Nielsen.
